About Me.

I am a twenty-something with a passion for teaching. I've known I wanted to be a teacher since I started school. Its in my blood. I also have a slight obsession with blogs and Pinterest for sharing ideas. So I decided to start my own.

I Teach.

I'm a high school special education teacher in a self-contained school. That means that our entire school is made up of students who receive special education services. The school I work at is actually part of a board of cooperative school services (a.k.a. BOCES--pronounced bo-sees), so it is part of the public school system.  Students who cannot be supported in regular public schools are sent to us.  Due to our staff, structure, and resources, we can better support these students and help them to achieve success.  The organization (again, BOCES) that I work for has several sites and accommodates a range of students, from "life skills" to the kiddos I teach who are still striving for a regular high school diploma.

Due to the structure of the school I work in, I am not only a case manager of about six students, but I am also a subject-area teacher.

I currently hold certifications in 7-12 English, 7-12 Special Education, and 5-12 Literacy.

In the past, I've taught Algebra and history courses, but this year I get to combine my certifications and teach English and a Creative Writing elective.

Outside of Teaching.

When I'm not teaching, reading blogs, and on Pinterest, I do have some semblance of a life (ha ha). I am in the midst of planning my wedding and spend lots of time with my family.
